Ok the beast is awake! A couple of minor problems but it fired right up:



The electric fuel pump makes a big difference. No cranking to fill the carbs or carb in this case.

A couple of pictures of the completed bike:

Couldn't get the air shocks to work and had no time to mess with them. Someone said 65 psi for two up riding so tried 50 psi and they didn't move at all! No problem when empty so I really need to experiment with them later. Replaced them with a pair of Showa 341s which came with the bike. I think they look better than the black airs:



Hopefully after the weekend I can finish the tail lamp wiring (to short for comfort) and try it down the road. More pics and video to come.

Let's hope it's worth waiting for. Had no choice really. It was getting to hot where we were and wanted to be here for the USA motogp. Now need to find another motorcycle tolerant RV park to finish it as we head north.

Thanks. Didn't like it at first but it sorta grew on me. At the very least it will keep the underside of the seat and wiring clean!

Got around to putting a kit in the petcock, putting proper coolant in and connecting the rear lamp up this morning so did some end of term pictures outside. I thought I should do these before I ride it, sell it or whatever I decide to do with it next! Of course it still needs the RH cam cover making but that won't stop a little test ride this afternoon

Fuel pump is under the shelter and so far no issues (hardly a test yet though ). It is the lower pressure, higher volume one that Autozone sell. Others sell it also as a replacement for cars like VW and is within spec for the Weber carb. Apparently the thing will lift 12 inches and the placement is about 8 inches above the base of the tank.

As my sig says we are on the move again and managed a stop in Orland Ca to go see Bill Bushling of Magnacharger fame. Spent a very pleasant couple of hours there and saw a lot of really cool stuff! I picked up a few ideas which might get incorporated in the next project
