I'm not really sure what off the wall custom building means, but this is my daily driver: '76 gl1000, equiped with 1100 carbs dyna ignition and coils 4-1 exhaust with marshall muffler.

right now it's in winter mode with winter tyres and as I must say driving it in the snow is even easier than I was used to do with my transalp they give pretty good traction in the snow
the tyres are from Heidenau a german brand.

This is something like what I had in mind for my own '76 bike. I have 2 sets of plastics so was going to do one set black standard, and the other a classic custom paintjob which might well be a flame type design.
Did you fabricate the 4 into one pipework?
