That also reminds me of the white BMWs that looked so classy.

I like how you integrated the turn signals into the clamp bolt for the headlight brackets. I've got the same type of bracket and I will say this - they rust quick. I'm thinking of either powder coating mine or going with an aluminum bracket.

Of course I don't wax very often and they do get wet a lot. Even so, they're pretty flush with rust after two years.

Chrome is porous, hence the best is triple plated (copper primer, nickel sealer, chrome top). Chrome on plain steel lasts like butter in summer.
For a sealer on top of the chrome, I use a silicone-based polish(Amway) as silicone will even stay on exhaust pipes. Can't burn the stuff off! My headers are all painted with a silicone based paint. Works better than the 500 degree engine paint.
Another polish I use is Nu Polish, got it at Autozone. No wax in it, good for 50 washings like the Amway. Does not say whether it has silicone.

Well it took me a couple of tries, mock up and tear down but this is what I came up with for the exhaust system. I started with GL1200 headers and sent the vapors through a pair of HD 22'' muffs (salvage finds $100.00). The headers needed some mods to fit to clear kickstand and point tailpipes in the right direction. Image Image Yes that is a zip tie holding the centerstand up. I used it while fab-ing a rubber bump stop. Image The mufflers appear to block axle removal but when you pop the shock bolts out, the wheel drops down and the axle slips out without removing exhaust. Hey check out them shiny shocks and springs.

Your bike is looking great. Clean and shiny and I really like the frame color. Can't wait to see what you do with the covers.

I remember being at about this stage with my 1100 restoration and thinking, do I really want to finish it and put it on the road? If you do it will never be this clean again. I went ahead and finished it and will deal with the dirt :-D. Nice work, I'm looking forward to your updates.

I think the tank makes a great seat. I'm rather liking the lower seat height. as far as the brakes go, I survived a few laps down and back on my road and it really keeps me motivated. Your bike is looking great. Like the others watching this forum I can't wait to see what you do with the pannels.

Your bike looks great. The frame reminds me of the old BMW's. Can't wait to see the finished product!
