Cookie, Not retired. (but often tired!) In fact I have two businesses, JUST TYPE A! Sometimes I wish I could shut it off, but that's just not my personality. I always have projects going.

Couldn't resist and did a little more work. Here is what she looks like now. Starting to look like a bike again.

You can tell real old wing fans, we think that is pretty! Why to some folks it is just a disassembled bike.

First thing I thought of when I saw those pics was "beautiful". Kind of makes me jealous.

You're doing a great job! Some part of me is saying, "tear it down and do a frame off" like you are doing, but all the rest of me is screaming "just get it running and on the road"! I listen to the majority of my parts

It is KILLING me not to get it running. By the time I get it running (if the Gods are not angry) the season will be over here in Ohio. If the Gods are angry, I figure it will be ready for Spring. I know I am enjoying every minute of this. (except for the roller bearings all over the garage floor!)

I'm just going to use your pictures. I bet if we put them side by side the only difference will be the boat.
What paint did you use on your engine and did you paint over the bolts.

I used dupli-color engine enamel in 1615 aluminum. I am very happy with it so far. I had the bolts off and cleaned up with a wire wheel. I was not going to paint them. When I put them back on I didn't think they looked finished, so I painted them. Maybe not what originally was done, but I like it. I painted over the red permatex gasket sealer too.

I will be going past Toledo this Friday on my way to the Classic Wing Club open house in Kent. You should drive down and get a gander at a whole bunch of classic ( '75-'79 ) wings.

What did you do to prep the engine prior to painting?

As for preping the engine I used a grease cutting cleanser, scrub brush, tooth brush, brake cleaner, brass brush, terpentine and a lot of elbow grease. I wish I had known about the wing get together earlier. Unfortunetly my Saturday is booked up with honey do's as we leave for a weeks vacation on Monday. I haven't mentioned how far behind this vacation of hers/ours will put me on the bike. (some things are just better left unsaid I think!) I'm waiting on bearings, brake caliper rebuild kits and seals to keep going on the bike. They will probably get here just before we leave. I guess the fact that I am at kind of a standstill is a good thing. Most of the work on other parts of the bike is done.

That's the way it always is. You are heading out the door and the FedEx guy is walking up the driveway. Have fun on your vacation. I have a frame to clean.

The first of my packages arrived today. I was opening the box like a kid at Christmas. I scored a great deal on a 77 seat in great condition. I just had to clean it up and set it on the bike. Image
