Clutch Lifter Plate

The plate that bolts down over the clutch springs. I broke two of them today. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find a replacement?

The clutch lifter plate is pretty delicate and needs to be tightened in a star pattern. The torque wrench that I was using was also too large for the 7-10ft/lbs of torque required. That thing snaps really easily.

Yeah I've just had mine out (and back in again. Without breaking it)
and I noticed the Shop Manual is very clear about this:

"...remove lifter plate bolts in
small increments, alternating bolts
in a criss-cross pattern to avoid breaking
the plate
..."

"...install lifter plate bolts in
small increments, alternating bolts
in a criss-cross pattern to avoid breaking
the plate
..."

Reading it I was a bit:
" yeah right...how would such a solid looking thing break?.."
but I still did as precribed.

So now we know that this is to be taken seriously.

Sorry about you trouble!

Frenchy apparently has one for me as well. Thanks, Frenchy! I wonder if anyone has any specific tips for installation other than mentioned in the manual? I was pretty careful with the second one and it still broke. Though, I suppose I could moderate my beer consumption during the process. That may have been a contributing factor.

The last time I drank beer and worked on a bike was at Frenchy's place. While I LOVE to drink Beer and I LOVE to work on bikes I have accepted that they are like Playing with Guns while drinking beer. Just not a good pratice for me

Usually when the serious beer drinking starts I clean the shop. That can be interesting also!

I received the part from Frency (thanks!). Wish me luck installing it. The plan is to lay off the beer this time.

Since I was present at the above mentioned 'Beer and wrenching' (NOT beer and wenching) party, those who remember the occassion will recall that I limited my involvement to SUPERVISING  .

I can do that and drink beer quite well anim-cheers1
