I think most of us that have fitted an electric pump would not willingly go back to the mechanical one. Starting is almost instantaneous, the idle is smoother etc.
Here's mine fitted with chrome GL1200 pump brackets and a pump from a Kawasaki which is almost identical to the GL1200 version. I had thought about cutting off the original pump drive from the cam to make the tach drive smaller and neater, but decided to leave it until I was happy with the conversion.
Cyborg has run a different and tidier electric pump for decades on his bike. Not sure what it was off. I'll try for a picture of that later.

those reasons are also part of why I want to run an E-pump. I'm still going to have a fuel pump to look stock and retain the tach. A buddy of mine feels confident he can weld up or make a cover to look good.

I was thinking of running this pump: http://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8251-Univ ... ords=e8251 and then wiring in an oil pressure safety switch so the pump will stop when the engine stops or a tip over switch.

I'm leaning (no pun intended) towards the tip over switch.

between 2.5 and 4.5. I'm a tad nervous about the 4.5 psi as I've read it's best to keep it below 4

so nothing to update really. started a new job a few months ago and haven't had a lick of time to do much! The blazer and XS build have taken center stage recently, and soon the Spirit will be begging to get back on the road... I did order a set of emulators for the GL forks though, from daughtery motorsports. great price for a custom setup and I don't have to really mess with too much tuning like Race Tech's setup.

Sorry if anyone was following this with earnest, time is my worst resource right now...

Almost nothing runs at the high side of a rating. That is most likely a peak reading.
If you're really concerned
You can always add an adjustable fuel regulator.

ya, my thoughts were the same as yours. I really don't want to run a regulator as it's another piece in the puzzle and would look more cluttered.

My fabricator told me he will make me a custom fuel pump cover plate to clean up that area so I can run a more inboard fuel pump without having an ugly bracket hanging off of the cylinder head.

I'm always a fan of simpler and cleaner! :-D

This is the best I can come up with. Doug thinks it may be a Honda unit but he's had it on there for longer than his memory will run too.

So i'm not considering re-building the 75 as well. Very basic, mostly a stock rebuild. Might give it to my dad or sell it on craigslist. I would "donate" the parts from the '79 to the '75.

What's everyone's thoughts on using the '79 mag wheels in lieu of the spokes on a '75?? Are they a direct bolt on? (I would bolt the 79 forks directly up to the 75 since i sold that front end awhile back when I thought i was just going to part out everything...

Rear wheels are a direct swap. Front ends are also a swap if you use everything from the 79.

so I got some pictures from my fabricator. My stainless, pie-cut 4-4 is coming along nicely!! I can't wait for that! Here's a few teaser pics.

Still tossing the idea around of getting the '75 up and running as well. I'm not sure how much work it needs, but I figure getting one of the two bikes in mostly stock condition would be beneficial vs parting it all out. This will of course be after I get the '76 going. Might be easier to sell a running and somewhat clean bike vs. parting out on here.

Not much else to talk about...
