I'd say 5yr/50k on the modern belts. You can get them anywhere but BikeBandit has about the best price.

For tires, I've been running Shinko for years and have had decent luck with them. Not a real high mileage tire but a set runs right around $125 from BB. Combine your order and it's free shipping. Then remove the wheels and find someone local to mount them for $20 to $40 each.

Never even saw the bike in the first Picture!!!! lol Most important thing has been said and you have done that, (belts), but looks like you got a great deal. I always think bikes look better naked, know there's a place for fairings, but I love the openness of a bike. Good luck with the project.
Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

You're making great progress. When you paint off the ugly, what color will go back on?

Well, at first I was going with a pearl blue, but it looked too much like the disco purple it has on it now. So me and Krylon are going with Captain America Blue.

This side cover is a couple layers away from clear coat, but it's going to be the color.

I'm going to be replacing my timing belts soon. I had to order them. When I took the timing belt cover off, the far right bolt, on the right side (when sitting on the bike) was broken off inside. I had to get an extractor set and was able to remove it,
I was looking for a bolt, but I found a couple on eBay thx...

Shoot!!! I got a break from fixing the Jeep Wrangler today and was going to put the timing belts on my bike. I have had the belts from O'Reillys for over a week now and after I got everything off and tried to put the belts on, they didn't fit right. The teeth wouldn't fit in the grooves. I tried to mash them in, thinking I had them off center, and accidentally shifted the the left cam pulley about 3mm off mark.
.
I took a closer look at the part # online and the belts they gave me are for a 1500. Well, I brought them back and had to order some from NAPA, but now my cam is 3mm off mark and the timing mark is no longer on T1.

Any advice on how to set this right? The instruction tell you to check and make sure all the marks are all still lined up, but not what to do if you mess things up like I did. What is the best and easiest way to get the cams back in line with the T1 timing mark?

If they are only that far off just turn them till they line up again. Turn them back to where they line up. Don't try turning anything completely over.

Well that was fun... After a bit of research, I found out that if you take off the valve covers, back of the nuts to each valve and then the screws 2 turns, you can turn the cams and get back to T1 without doing any damage.

I got the belts on after a few tries and then I adjusted the valves, put on the radiator, oil filter and cap, filled it up and she fired right up and ran with no leaks.

Now it's back to the cosmetics... Paint, lights, and the like. Hope to get her together soon. I have an itch to scratch and I can not reach it with an undone bike.

Yep, I'm with ya. I had to do the same thing w/ the timing belt installation.

I'm glad you made it. Maybe someone else could confirm that you could still tweak a valve with the adjusters backed off. You would have to have the belt off the mark at just the right, wrong degree. It's safer to pull the belts, turn cams to marks, then to T1 with the crank, and start putting the belts on again.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Can anyone tell me what this is? It is on th front of my gl1100 mixed into the mess of wires between the headlight ears. It looks like some sort of horn. Is it a buzzer of some sort? Do I need it?

Thanks...

That's a microphone w/ a direct connection to the NSA. When frustrated, just scream into it.

I think it's the turn signal buzzer. You know, you can download the Honda service manual? I think I printed off my copy last year from Goldwing Docs, or there may be a link here at NGW Club.
There's quite a nest of wires @ the triple tree, isn't there?
