I've been reading up. I think I have a 3.75 inch rim, though its tough to measure. The tire on the rim is a 5.70-8. I think the size that came on the sidecar was 4.80-8. Continental makes a 4.00 x 8. Not sure what size rim would work maybe something like 3 inch? I think the rim is a standard 4 on 4 trailer rim...

I think that rim might work then, check a trailer forum maybe. But it would be worth a try as your loading is not bad for that size tire. The bearing of course will be really spinning at 70 mph.

The PO said it was off of a kz1200. I can't seem to find a photo of one similar..... so take it for what it's worth..

I've been getting quite a bit done but been a little lazy with posting pictures.. I polished then installed a VFR front master cylinder and brake lever and got the front brakes bled out. I ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit for the rear. I finished the paint finally! I made it down to my graphics guy and he made new graphics I needed to finish up. I changed a few things from my original art, made the stripes for the sidecar thinner and made stripes for matching helmets to the bike. He also made me the Goldwing RR emblem to replace the green and gold stock emblem on the shelter. I installed an AGM battery in the boot of the sidecar and finished the sidecar wiring. I changed my mind again about gauges. I ordered an Acewell Speedo. I didn't like the look of the Vapor. I bought nice stock gauges from Sunnbobb, but those stick up too high. I should have just bought the Acewell to start with. I also ditched the cafe fairing and went back to the Volkswagen headlight ring. The fairing made the bike look funny from the front and I think it looks lower and much nicer without it. I'm thrilled to be getting close to finished with this bike... I need to get this bike done as I picked up another stablemate for the Wing... Another Honda... one of those "I wish I never sold it" bikes that will be my next restoration project!

I still need to:
Rebuild rear m/c
Replace right valve cover gasket
Find the T trim for the shelter
Find the swtich cover for the hi beam/ low beam switch
Mirrors--Ordered Napoleon Bar end mirrors
Cut a plate for between the bike and sidecar
Buy Harley shock spanner and adjust the shocks softer
Give the bike a good cleaning and polishing

That's looking lovely, but I cringe when I recall how much mud and rubbish my front wheel threw all over the newly painted front of my engine....specially when I see your open cambelts!

I fitted a humungous mudflap on my mudguard and it stops all of the thrown filth. Remember with a rig you are going to be getting much greater angles of steering deflection and are more likely to spray mud over a wider area than with a solo bike.

Now I just need to bond my spatterguard on the back end.....

I simply cut the flap from an old rubber car floor mat. Cheap but very effective!

Have you had your rig on a weighbridge yet?

I really must do this myself, only as the interior's not in yet I'll wait, the cowhide weighs surprisingly heavy.

Hal,

Haven't weighed the sidecar but its really really lightweight. I was riding with 120 lbs of weight in it when I was learning the car. I was down to 40 lbs in it when it was empty. It's really easy to "fly the chair". I can lift the sidecar attached to the bike up with one arm. It's a little heavier with the battery. The shell of the sidecar probably weighs 30 lbs. The seat and carpet maybe another 10 lbs. Not sure of the frame but I rotated the complete frame myself when I painted it.

I still have the front fender extension. I may or may not put it on depending on how much crud gets thrown around. I also have a set of timing covers which I may or may not use...

Looks great, I suggest you bag the whitewall thoughts as the blackwall looks good on there and is well proportioned.

Really looking great. I know your sidecar rider is as anxious as you to get it on the road.

Got the clutch perch done. Not really thrilled about the dimple in the center but I was running out of material. I also got the rest of the cap nuts to finish the holes in the sidecar.

I reckon the body on mine has to be at least twice the weight of yours. I haven't managed to 'fly' it once, yet....not that I've been trying very hard.....

Looking at these pictures...well, it's been a real treat. Your build is not only beautiful, it invites or maybe even demands further study and contemplation. There are so many interesting ideas that are crowded together in the small space of a bike and sidecar but everything fits and is well balanced and proportioned. The colors and graphics communicate a lot of emotion. This is an exciting bike. Thanks for sharing such a great build.
