Started this project prior to last winter and then got delayed due to unforseen issues.
Back on it now and things are progressing well.
Completed so far:
1. Carbs rebuilt by Pistol Pete.
2. Timing belts replaced.
3. Front calipers rebuilt and painted.
4. Ordered brake pads.
5. Bunch of parts with Deek to get powder coated.
6. Seat modified and recovered.
7. Side covers are upholstered.
8. Modified the hard bags to eliminate the stock turn signal location.
9. Hard bags are with the upholsterer.
10. Modified rear fender to eliminate the swing up making the fender one piece but not loosing the length. Took out the two bolt locations.
11. Still haven't decided on painting the front, rear, fender and faux tank or get them covered ... still thinking that one through.
12. Removed the rear trunk and trunk rack. Installed the rear grab rail with the harb bag rack and made two brackets to attach the hard bags to since the grab rail was not designed for that application ... is now.
13. Bunch of cleaning. Amazing where the dirt gets when you start removing stuff. Engine top was in good shape and required no painting.
14. Radiator and it's component parts have all been cleaned and painted.
15. Stock fork ears have been removed and sold to someone that can use them, did not want to cut the tabs off for the turn signals. Have replacements from Cresent Moon.

To do ... a lot. Haven't figured out the rear turn signals yet. Put everything back together correctly ... glad I took a lot of pictures. ;)

Started with this. Purchased the bike and then tore it apart to give it a good cleaning. Since then I've moved across the state and replaced the fairing with a windshield. Summer 1995

More to come ;) Suggestions on color or upholstery for the fenders and faux tank are welcome ... having fun now :-D

Hey Neil,

Were those calipers new? They look great!

You want your motor parts back so you can fire her up when Pete gets your carbs back? I can send what I have done now instead of waiting for the other box.

Calipers came off the bike ... just some work with the brass wire wheel, sand paper and then caliper paint, new pistons, seals, Etc.

Got the carbs back already but not in any hurry. Do you have the timing and valve covers done?

Thinking now of going ahead and painting the wheels so more coming off.

Later with more :)

Nice work, Neil.

Looks like she's beggin' for leather look on the shelter, too.

Is she gonna make it on the road this season?

Thanks Roady, yes she will be on the road. I need to make a few long rides to get ready to go to Randakks rally in September. I was released from rehab last week because they could do no more for me. Right now life is good and I'm having a good time working on the old girl.

Just finished polishing the carb tops, cleaned up and painted the gas cap and repainted the HONDA plaque that goes on the front of the bike.

Next is polishing the plenums.

I'm going to complete the leather look and have the fenders and faux tank covered 8) ... should be interesting and hopefully not a mistake, if it is it won't be my first or last

It's coming on great, Neil! Looking forward to seeing it in the 'flesh' as it were!

Glad you're continuing with the leather look theme. No mistake there, IMHO !

It's coming along nicely, Neil. And you didn't go wrong with having Pistol Pete do the carbs or Deek doing your powdercoating. I've had work done by both and am very pleased! I'm waiting for Deek to build his enormous oven to powdercoat some long items I have.

Carb rack ready to go back on ... rebuilt by Pistol Pete ... polish and paint by Neil:

Fenders and Faux tank have been stripped, modified somewhat and are with the upholsterer getting the leather look. Post those when they are done along with the hard bags.

Nice!

Those carbs are beauties!

Everything is packed and ready to go out. I wanted to wait until I got my new gloss black to shoot a sample before I send it, though. Should be here tomorrow. I'll probably send your box Saturday.

I leave for New Jersey on Tuesday but I'm taking a long weekend (next) so I should be able to get the floorboards and caliper done.

I really like the look of those intakes. That black looks great. Are you going to go with black valve covers.

I like the leather look ! I am anxious to see the whole bike done. Nor more waxing ! Course you'll use a lot of saddle soap......

Your carbs look great too !!!
