Great Job I love the way it turned out, and the paint is great, really stands out. You can be proud of your fine work.

They should have a warning with the directions in bold print about doing that sort of thing! I've got an old range in the garage for such work, but found that the motor's heat cooks it just as well. Wives are not very tolerant.

That must be something that each of us tries once. I did it on the headers for my '96 Sprint. It said right there on the can that you need to cure it in the oven at (such-&-such) degrees. Didn't even occur to me that the whole house would stink for a couple of days.

If I remember right, it cost quite a few restaurant meals and a couple nights at a Moe-Tell.

Really wasn't that bad here, I thought I had pulled it off. doors and windows open, exhaust fan running and then scrubbed the inside of the oven when I was done. All while she was at work.... until the following night when she turned it on for supper :(

Bad enough she found you out, but to have her plans for supper derailed....bet there was a lot of silence at your restaurant table! No wonder all those ads on TV make men out to look like idiots. Madmen been there too.

I did get away with it with VHT paint on muffler clamps. But less surface area and perhaps lower volatiles in the paint. In the future, I must remember to be more cautious.

action1 Sorry I'm so late to the party. That is a mighty fine ride you created there. Looking back to the before, it almost doesn't seem possible. You're an inspiration. I sure do think an Indiana meet and greet would be fun.

Nice Job HD, the black accents with that color give it a great look. Enjoy.

Nope, I didn't forget. They are all reassembled and back on. I masked off the nice chrome and sandblasted the rust off, then painted with Appliance epoxy black. They came out pretty nice. I'll post a pic tonight.

I occasionally use my rear pegs on my 1100s kind of like rear sets. I'll hook my heel over them and lean forward in the saddle some. With my bad back it gives me some relief to find a totally different riding position than normal. I don't have to do it for long but it helps loosen my back muscles while riding.

Wow! Nice job! That looks brilliant......I like the straight bars and the Sportster mufflers.

How tall are you though? You said something about having long arms....I prefer the look of straight bars but having trashed my back and had a disc collapse and repaired, I wonder if they would work for me....I find the higher bars and more upright position suits me well.

Is that purple a stock colour?

That rusty left side bore seems to have come up well...what did you do, hone it?

There are a couple of threads on the board that should be required reading, this one and Old Fogey's come to mind. This one should be retitled perseverance.
