Very nice attention to detail there.

Might save someone some trouble on a non-titled bike. Buy a crappy but titled frame and presto change-oh.

I want one of those 78 trashed frames w/ a title! Got a line on a 78 engine that I'd like to toss in a project down the line.

The VIN is stamped into the steering neck on the opposite side from the manufacturer's plate. Anyone in the know would look there and not be fooled by swapping the plate.

Well, obviously I did not know that. Dayum. It woulda made life so easy.

But I guess a frame swap is not so bad ... the process gives the opportunity to inspect, clean, paint and renew everything.

More progress. We are sprucing up the engine that I talked about in this thread >Click Here< and going to put it in this bike. I fixed the missing pin problem with a dremel, 4mm screw and some JB weld.

Removed the transmission cover, clutch cover and timing belt covers. Put in new clutch plates. Stripped and cleaned the engine along with all the covers. Primed and painted.

Grandson masking off the engine after stripping the paint and cleaning:

We'll begin reassembling the engine tomorrow. More to come.........

Engine primed, painted and cleared. Reassembled and ready to put in the frame. Actually the frame was put on the engine, much easier.

Dean,
Really nice looking project. I hope said hard working grandson gets the keys and the title when this is all done. He has earned them.

For inspiration we've taken Hardware Man's beautiful half bagger. This is the look we're going for, including the flames. We're going to paint it the same color as my wife's trike, Apollo Pearl Blue:

Wow

Nice trike you got there (hope you get to ride it sometimes) Blue would look great on the 81 - 1100. As for Hardware mans bike (swing ;) ) That should be an insperation too all 1100 owners.
