WTB Vetter mount for CX

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

WTB Vetter mount for CX

#1

Post by Missourimike »

Hoping to find a mounting bracket/hardware for a Vetter fairing that will fit a CX650C. If someone has a mount for other than a Vetter, I can probably make it work to mount a Vetter Quicksilver. I'll also be posting this in "Wanted".
Thanks for looking.

The 500 and 650 have completely different frames and necks. About the only thing interchangeable with them are the motors. So, a fairing mount won't interchange. I have one part of a Vetter mount for a 500C, the part that bolts to the neck. A couple weeks ago, I spent a week engineering and fabricating a mount for a Vetter Quicksilver(82). It works.
I'd still be interested in a Vetter mount for a 650C, as I have another bike in the wings. Thanks for the reply and inquiry.

Thought I'd post a photo of the finished project. I absolutely love riding this bike and the Vetter makes it even more enjoyable. Additional mods are the H-D mufflers, cone filters in place of the OE airbox, Saddlemen bags, and custom made plate/light assembly with reflective plate frame. Handlebars are Euro Sport that barely clear the tank, but make for a much more comfortable riding position, leaning forward rather than back. Bar ends are 1.5" raised above a straight bar type.
Rear tire is a 150/90-16. Slightly oversized, helps raise the gearing and lowering the rpms at speed.

One thing I forgot to mention is the paint on the bike. It's a metallic black left over paint used on a rare Mercedes coupe. My Nephew Michael, owner of Hoppers Choppers and Rods did the work. Wish you could see it in the photo, as it is flat beautiful. Michael only does perfect work and with this paint job, it's like looking in a mirror, even in a dark place. I could comb my hair or brush my teeth by looking into it. You want Beauty and Perfection, contact Michael Hoppers in Bolivar, MO.
I've had several of my riding friends get their bikes painted by him and they ALL are well satisfied with his designs and work.

She's got the tub on front with mounting bars system intact. Not sure if Vetter and OEM are close, if it is and you need it, can be yours for shipping. (from 97882)

Also have same from the oddball brand from tub off our Gwing.

Pics will be later this afternoon or tomorrow, need to dig through pile of junque growing in driveway.

I'll be sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting to see what the mount looks like.
