Before and after paint
Here is my silverwing. It was painted an awful pink/redish color with some kind of enamel, orange peeled etc. I'm almost finished with the new paint. Here is a before and after pic: I still need to find some SILVERWING badges for the side covers. Ebay has NOTHING.

Re: Before and after paint
I think the guy before me put on those lower handlebars. I don't care for them. They are like my 83 Saber were. I used Duplicolor paint. Have always had good luck. 4 coats of paint, 4 of clear, wet sanded with 1500 grit paper then hand rubbed with polishing compound.

The new color is MUCH better than the previous Pepto Bismol candy finish.

Re: Before and after paint
Excellent paint job...I'd have never believed it was Duplicolor.

Same kind of paint I used on my CX500 Custom. Lots of elbow grease. Never use that Krylon crap. always have good luck with DupliColor. Here is my Custom before and after.

Re: Before and after paint
Honda CX500, of which they made 3 models, from '78-82. The Custom is pictured, the GL500 SilverWing(with Hondaline fairing and bags), and the E model sport bike for the Europeans. In '83 Honda upped the ccs' to 673 and called it the 650. This was the last year of production of the trans-verse V- twin. A good machine that had too much competition during the 80s recession. Anyone care to add more? Oh yeah, they had turbo powered models too.NewWinger wrote:For give me but

The difficult can be done in a day. The impossible takes a little longer, if you don't know it can't be done.

Re: Before and after paint
You covered them pretty good Mike except for the standard and deluxe models which have a different tank, seat and minor items. Those tanks I mentioned hold about 1.5 gals. more that the custom.
I picked up a 80 deluxe last month cause I was in need of 'another project'. They're good solid bikes. Later.

Re: Before and after paint
Looks like a photoshop job to me. kickstands gone, mirrors are gone ... but the wheels are rotated exactly the same. The fence post is visible in the voids of the rear wheel, etc.Rustybux wrote:Same kind of paint I used on my CX500 Custom. Lots of elbow grease. Either way I like the adjustment to the colors and hope the actual looks as nice. Much improved ...
