Got another CX, 650C

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

Got another CX, 650C

#1

Post by Missourimike »

A couple weeks ago I found an ad on craigslist for a CX650C, located 6 miles from my home. The owner had to get it out of his apt. living room. He did have it in a garage, until the wife divorced him and took the house. Anyhoooo, he said it was his daily rider, lost the key, hadn't been run in about 4 yrs. Nice looking black bike, missing the two side panels and the grab rail/pocket behind the seat. Came with clear title. When the man said $100 for it, I jumped on it!
Got a new key, right code, from England, air cleaner cover on ebay. Oh yeah, the man had bought a new battery for it, then couldn't find the key! Tires like new, but they are 6yrs old. Will work for awhile yet.
This is the 3rd bike of this style I've had in the past year. I was amazed at how well they handle and are well balanced. I sold a 79 GL500 and an 82 CX500. When the weather gets back up above freezing, I'll dig into the electrics and see why the main fuse blows so quickly on this 650. With 37% more power than a 500, I'm anxious to try it out!
I saw somewhere that some fellow had made molds of the 650s side panels and had in mind of selling reproductions. When I find that thread again, I'll have to contact him. It may have been on choppercharles, but haven't found it again.

Here's the link for the new 650 side covers.

You'll really enjoy the power the 650 has. It PULLS like a dog at the other end of the rope!!

I put a backrest/carrier on mine and have the stock grab rail if that's all you need. I don't have an extra 'lock box' that fits back there though.

Thankyou very much for the Link! Shot off an email to him and placed an order.
Now, Larry, what would you like for the grab rail that fits behind the seat? I can make something to fill the box space.
MIKE

What I have looks like this.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/83-cx650-cx-650 ... es&vxp=mtr

Is that what you are looking for?

Although I'd LOVE to get that much for it, (mainly because the backrest I bought to replace it cost me over $250.00 including the shipping from a guy in New York State) I don't believe I'd be able to sleep at night.

Now, IF you valued your valves that highly I think we can make a deal!!! action1 dancr
