Parting Out: 1984 CX650e

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

Edit: This bike is probably too far gone for most people, but feel free to ask.

could you check to see how much shipping to 27312 would be for the front footpegs and all attached to them (ie. brake pedal - and even the shifter). feel free to pm me.

Medium sized box to North Carolina by Canada Post Expedited (3-4 weeks including Customs time) from here would be around $25 shipping if it's under 5 pounds.

In fact that rate would apply to much of the USA...California and Texas cost a bit more and can take a bit longer.

There is another grade of postal shipping above that and for most medium sized boxes under 5 pounds would be around 37.50 but arrives in a week to ten days in most USA centers.

You can check rates at canadapost.ca as well...it's very similar to US Postal service except a bit more expensive.

dang. throw 'em across the line and they could be shipped for 5-10 bucks in a flat rate priority box. crazy how much it costs to send from one country to another.

well, if shipping is 25, how much do you want for the pegs, brake pedal and shifter?

wish you were closer, i'd love to get the rims from you, but i don't even want to think about how much they'd cost to ship.

Winston

Could you do me a favor and take a look at that front headlight mount and front fairing and tell me what you think it would take to mount up on a 75 GL1000???

Dean I'll get back to you Wednesday with a total price....

Whiskerfish, I'll look at the fairing assembly in the morning (Wednesday), measure the mounting points, put my 1100 next to it and take a pic for you as well so you can get a sense of key dimensions...cool idea!

Okay, forgot my camera today but got a good look at the headlight assembly ...it aapears to be held in place by two bolts that attach to a prehistoric bird cage that amounts to two little struts which go through the bottom of the triple tree inboard of the fork tubes...doesn't look hard to remove or to adapt to a gl1000, though I suspect the GL stock guages will challenge for space and the mini fairing will have to perhaps mount out further but it's hard to say.

As for pricing, you guys can have anything I can remove from the bike other than internal motor parts that fits in a box sized 12x12x12 inches and weighs under 5 pounds shipped for a Total of $55 USD. including shipping.

FYI, Shipping rates are as follows to the Continental USA by Canada Post:

Expedited Parcel™ - USA 10 to 11 business days $28.86...so it's basically 25 for the parts and 30 for s&H...

( I used Texas as my example, but Iowa for example shows the same price...and I know from experience the actual time is often more like 15 Business Days or around 3-4 weeks in real time depending on which State you are in and how busy US Customs is.)

Sunnbob and I sent each other parcels earlier this year...we are on opposite sides of the continent and it was 3-4 weeks each way as I recall.

Update: this bike is just kind of sitting wasting away outdoors, so if anyone wants anything from it, let me know....chances are the shipping will be more than the parts themselves.

See canadapost.ca to do your own shipping estimates (if you like) using postal code b2v2h6 as the starting point.

What's the rear shock like?

If I was closer to you I might have asked about the whole thing. Its in a lot better shape than Eccles was when I got him.
