Polar Bear Ride 2017

#1

Post by Sidecar Bob »

The rules are simple:
1) Participation in the CURD Polar Bear Ride is free and open to anyone.
2) Go for a ride of at least 1hr duration on either Dec. 31 2016 or Jan 1 2017 or both. (I usually head for somewhere that is at least a half hour from home, stop for a meal or to visit someone or something like that and then make sure I take more than half an hour to get back home).
3) Take one or more pics and post them in this thread.
4) Click the following link to Piper's Patches where you can order Polar Bear Run patches, year rockers &/or pins. http://www.piperspatches.biz/PolarBearRide.html

Sticking caliper is going to keep me from participating this year. I was going to work on it yesterday but ended up helping one of my sons with his car. Enjoy the ride.

We went for dinner in the next town by way of 3 other towns: 50 minutes to get there and 15 to get home, total about 66 Km.

Wow! I should have remembered this from last year and took some pictures while I was out riding today. Luckily, we saw temps in the 40's.

Got out for 1/2 hour and was wonderful. 33 F and much of the salt had washed away with the rain last week. No polar Bear ride Qualifier but great all the same.. I see Sidecar got out.

I've only missed one year since I first heard about it in 2009 and that was 2014 when I had a torn rotator cuff and wasn't allowed to do any extra riding.

Great shot Bob action1 action1

put a 100mi. on the Condor, but it was a glorious day. Sunny in the 70's. I was bound to ride something somewhere.

I'd say she's an amazing lady to go along with you, Bob! I have a hard time getting my gal to go if the temperature is roughly 50F or lower.

But, at least she's smiling at that point!

Actually, Kay doesn't get into that sidecar more than once or twice per winter. The one on the GoldWing, on the other hand, is more roomy & easier to get in & out of so she has been known to actually travel places in it.
