Just getting back into riding. Would love to attend. When and how does one get "invited"?

No invite needed. Simply stay tuned to the forums and when you find a run you like, chime in. We love seeing new faces at the rallies.

Absolutely would love to have you! No special invite is needed... all is welcome. I will post details and itinerary once final info is determined. It comes down to when my son's college graduation is scheduled dancr

If your come through near Tulsa on a weekend, we do have a couple of spare rooms. I can even show you the intersection on 66 where the lady drove across the road in front of me

For anyone in the St Louis area, the St Louis History Museum in Forest Park has a Route 66 exhibit that covers the mother road through Missouri, Not sure how long it is going to be there, I saw it and think it was worth going to.

Okay... the Route 66 ride begins June 4th from Miami OK. It'll be two weeks so it will end June 17th at the same place.
The first week will be visiting as many Route 66 sites as possible ending at Needles CA. It is anticipated that a detour to the Grand Canyon will be made. The following week will be the return trip to Miami. Perhaps stopping at sites we couldn't visit the first week or just riding 66.

So whose coming?

June 6-8 we will be in Eureka Springs for the NGW event. But we will be around on June 4th and we live just a couple of miles off 66 near Foyil, OK.

To all those who've expressed interest go on this ride...
Because of my recent eye surgery, it is overly optimistic to plan this ride for June. However, I am investigating whether to reschedule this ride for September (2017) or June (2018). We'll keep everyone informed.

Thank you for the well wishes in a speedy recovery and I plan to be riding in the next couple of months!

Sadly out in NM and AZ the only remnants of 66 is turning off the interstate to drive through those little towns.
That's pretty much true in western OK and the Texas panhandle as well. I remember driving I-40 from Oklahoma City to Amarillo in the 70's and at that time I-40 was being built right on top of the US-66 roadbed. Lots of construction detours through those towns then. There is a fairly large Route 66 museum in Elk City, Oklahoma along the old 66 route through town. You might want to check it out.
