High Performance Ignitors for GL1100 lite review

Post by sunnbobb »

I picked up a set of these ignitors and swapped the stock ones out. They have a slightly different mounting tab, so I attached them as shown in the picture.

Pretty much they were plug and play.

As with most mods of this type, the difference was subtle, but it does fire and idle better. With each little mod, it runs better and better. The MOSFET, the new ignitors, Iridium plugs, Accel coils, each added a little bit. Following is a video of how she sounds. I'm pretty happy right now.

Sounds good!!! Are those driving lights mounted just below the faux tank? If so what brand are they and how well do they work

Yes, the driving lights work well, don't know the brand. Have them hooked up with a relay to help with amperage. The exhaust is danmoto extreme canisters w/baffles.

Your bike sounds great.

I was thinking about replacing my original ones for something like these:

http://www.mandp.co.uk/index.php/defaul ... cb900.html

but not sure if it would make a difference. I had to clean out the gooey stuff at the back and used epoxy resin instead. They seem to work ok but after all, they are old now.

What do you think?

I was also toying with the idea of replacing the old but working coils, but where do you stop?

Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

Where do you stop, indeed. And the site says only one left. And doesn't seem like much of an "upgrade". Don't fix what ain't broke,....unless its a vast improvement

That makes good sense to be honest, and found plenty on line David Silver, CMSNL, etc, but guess it's best to wait for them to fail completely.

Did anyone spot my mistake by putting the same post twice!
