Reminds me of what used to be called "friction tape". Haven't seen any for many many years.

I went ahead and bit the bullet on a pair of Dyna coils. I was tallying up the cost of a new ignition system and considering all options, and in the grand scheme of things, saving $60 by hacking something together isn't all that appealing.

Amazon had a good deal on an HJC helmet too, so I snagged that. I also ran across this sweet jacket on shopgoodwill.com, so I won the auction on it. Looks brand new.

You're doing a great job! The crinkle paint and the detail work on the valve covers and timing belt covers add detail and uniqueness. I think the color you chose for the body will look awesome. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it is finished. You're inspiring me to do something with mine.

Thanks man, I can't wait either!

I'm kicking around the idea of some Hagon shocks, but I'm just not ready to swing the $450 or so right now. I know the RFY shocks I have are a joke, but I figure they'll be good enough to get the bike rolling, then I can investigate some proper shock options.

Got most of the electrics installed the other day and powered it up. Everything works as intended!

I'm glad to see you're installing turn signals other than the stock ones. The stock ones are probably too big for the look that you want. Also, great find on the Goldwing jacket.

Came up with a solution for my missing shelter lock...

I also spent a little time cutting down the rear fender. Lopped about 6" off the back, lost the ducktail and support, and rounded it off to match the front. I folded over the metal and hammered the edge. It's far from perfect, but the fender already had a few dents and dings in it. I figure it'll work until I find something I like better.

That's powdercoat, not paint.

When you get it on the road, I am sure there will be some interest in a report on those headlights. Very clever lock for the shelter. I just went through trying to find one for my 78 project. Ended up buying a complete set at $95. And then the ignition switch wasn't good so I have two keys instead of one.
