So with that, we break ground on the Gulf oil Goldwing Racer. It's not gonna be a real racer, just a tribute bike I guess.
We're all probably familiar with the Gulf Oil paint scheme from movies and events like Le Mans and the Porsche 917 racecars. Im a vintage Porsche guy. I own one. Ive built 3 of them. I LOVE the Gulf Oil paint scheme. So it's time to do the same to a GL.
Here is the bike as it sits tonight....

It's depressing.... she deserves better. The motor make a loud almost knock sound at idle, but the carbs were shot, timing belts are probably off, valves need to be adjusted. Anyone know of a diagram to make an engine stand for these motors?
Anyways. It may call for a motor rebuild, but she's gonna get Webber carbs, race bars, going to try to source a full race front fairing, and of course, a very pretty 510 Color-Werks paint job.
So with that, we broke ground today.
And started with.......
THE BATTERY BOX! Lol.... stupid I know, but I had it off the bike, and I wanted to paint something blue and orange.
Sandblasted, ready for paint.

Etch primer, then sealer was applied

Then the orange was applied to the battery box door, and blue to the battery box itself.

I'll post pics of them together, but there you have it. Build #2 is underway
