i have an 1100 wing, and i just got hold of a 75 false tank, and it does look like it should fit right on without too much hassle, just looks like it needs the wiring and electronics transferred to the 75 tank frame...does anyone know of any issues besides this?

I believe the hole for filling the real rank will have to be modified.

yeah it looks like i'll have to cut the rest of that metal plate away from around the filler spout, i think the spout on the 1100 is more central and the 1000 is on the one side

i'm pretty keen to try to make this work, as i think the 1100 seems to be a longer bike and i'm aimimg for a sportz look, and looking at the 1100 false tank, looks very much like a cruiser tank, and the 1000 tank looks flater, more of sports touring looking tank, and with the addition of a rear seat cowling, should look very neat, considering the length of the bike...but i am experimenting....

The 1100 swing arm is approx 1.5" longer then the 1000.

That could be pretty nice. I do think the 1k shelter is shorter than the 1100, will be interesting to see if the bolts match up.

Anyone have both that you could measure up?

I'm s l o w l y working on an 83 with a 78 shelter. http://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=32975
The shelter mounting holes don't line up, but it's not a really hard mod. As mentioned previously, the fuel tank neck is in a different location so the internal shelter had to be cut to fit.

Rear shelter mounts. I drilled holes in the frame and used an junk mirror stem "welded" into the frame, then drilled and tapped.

Front shelter mount is is hacked up GL1100 seat support.

The center top mount is off a junk GL1000 frame I had laying around.

i think that the 77-79 tank looks shorter then the 75-76 tank, and the width seems to be the same on all, except not sure about later than 1100 models, i'll have a good look on saturday..

neat idea. but then it would be "a job", and everyone would hate it, and their own bikes would never get ridden, or worked on
