Using that grill on the rad is one cool idea. Looks great.

Me like the radiator cover... very cool idea, and you even showed the box it came in.. I may give that a shot on Brain Damage.

If I can figure out how to make them instead of buying them ;) I'm on a budget and saving every nickel for the couple parts I'm still missing and all the seals and gaskets the engine/head swap will require.

Sunnbobb, here's a link to the grill topper

Do you think removing the PLATE will have any affect on cooling system air flow?

If anything I think I'll be warmer and the engine cooler? Guess we'll find out?

Wow! That radiator looks great. I plan to pull my engine to paint it next winter and when I do, I may just have to paint the fan blades. What a great idea.

Don't know where you are at but down here keeping the rider cooler is of prime importance. I'll follow this with great interest as I have always thought removing these plates would boil the fuel in the #2 carburetor.

Flint, MI where keeping the rider warm is dam near impossible. Never ride out without a coat strapped on somewhere! If it does cause fueling problems I'll cut an acrylic panel to replace it, but I'm a long way from finding that out crying1 Like I said before, wouldn't be any fun if it was easy!

Your project is looking great. I check in every couple of days to see if you've posted any new photos. Keep up the great work.

Thanks, going to be a few days for an update, working on the final drive and deciding what to do with the wheels. The rear looks like someone took a wire wheel to the aluminum  and they are pretty corroded. I'm pretty anxious to get the rear end together to make sure the lines match my vision?

I've got a 17" rear that's in pretty good shape. You can have it for shipping and handling (costs involved with boxing it up).

Thanks for the offer sagebrush, but after a little work tonight the rear can be saved. I used a well worn flap sanding wheel on my angle grinder and it took off all the severe scratch lines from the wire wheel. I spent 5 minutes on a 6" section with 220 then 400 grit then neverdull and got a 90% polish. I don't know if I'm going to polish the strip along the tire I just wanted to see how much of the sanding lines came out. Going to take a couple days but I have more time then money ;)

Adventures in sandblasting the sequel went pretty well. Still have the other side and a little cleanup to do but I can see where I'm going now. Going to leave everything just like it is sandblasted and polish the rim next to the tire and the outfacing edges of the rim. Should give a good contrast and just enough to catch the eye.

didn't do a full polish, just a 90% test strip

Another couple nights and she'll be on the bike for a vision check ;)
