Sorry to be a pain in the $#3@&!! but I am really fighting this wheel change on my 77 Gl-1000. I laced and trued my 16x3 Harley wheel to my rear gl hub. The spokes I used were intended for the same swap on a Cb750 - they fit but the outer spokes needed to be bent to align with the wheel center. I am now doubting how well this might hold up. I have a few questions for oldboy. What spoke type did you order from Buchanans - Chrome- stainless steel - ? I really like the looks of them and you wrote that you paid around $100.00 a set. Also, what size FRONT tire did you run ? I would like to run a 140/90-16 just like the rear. I will be running the stock Gl1000 forks and brake set up. Thanks for your help.

All the spokes go in through from the same side. Also after you finish truing you may have to die grind the top of each spoke, mine stuck through the nipple too much. Keep going, your doing great. Don't forget the rubber band!

Cheers!

Lookin' good, man. I had a similar spoke delimma; ended up keeping my stockers so the spokes were a no-brainer.

Is that 750 yours?

Someone say Nipple ? Proof again- there is a product for everything. Been grinding excess spoke off for years (usually don't have to) can't say I ever had a problem. That's a boss lookin SOHC. ;)

Thanks for the info. I saw that Octane had run a 140 on the front - kinda like the over the top fat front tire look. Hmmm, I wonder if 1000's have more room between the forks? I would like to run some sort of front fender - could be supported by the fork brace.
