Hello from Orlando, Florida

Post by chowell »

Hello gang!

I just picked up a 1982 Aspencade. It needs a lot of TLC but should be a good commuter bike. I've been riding since the '70s. 1979 KZ650, 1982 KZ1000, 2000 Concours and now this beautiful GL1100. Looking forward to sharing my improvements, restorations and adventures. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and information.

Congrats on the new ride. She's a beauty. Looks like the PO took pretty good care of her. I hope they gave you a good rundown of all the upkeep they have done on her, ie, timing belt replacement date, oil change, valve adjustments, etc... etc... To give you a good idea on where to start.

Myself, I have an 81 and I find that working on these old girls is half the the joy of having one. Unlike a new bike that you can park and forget about till the next time you ride...

Looks like your missing the Right side cover. Found a good deal on one on ebay. 1982 HONDA GOLDWING GL1100 OEM SORRELL BROWN METALLIC RIGHT SIDE COVER PANEL It has a few scuffs, but it looks like its in pretty good shape.

If you don't get this one, when you do find one, make sure all the tabs are on the backside before you buy. The first one I ordered was missing the tip on one and I had to order another one.

Hi and welcome from across the Pond.
Bike looks in good shape, but as mentioned, do change the belts if you don't have the history on them. Interference engine which gets very unhappy at a broken belt.

Another welcome from the Motherland, nice looking bike, and as you may have realised by now that you need to change your belts! Any other questions, ask away and someone will reply quickly.
