bike was bought new in 2003, ridden once, and parked. she starts and runs strong with the choke out then dies when you put the choke back in. clogged pilot jet?

There might be something seriously wrong. You should send it my way.

I imagine a complete overhaul of the carb would be in order after 13 years of sitting.

@sgwilly - carb overhaul is in progress.
she started and idled strong with the choke...and died without the choke.
that made me think it was a clogged pilot jet?
i pulled the carb and the pilot jet was definitely seized but it looked clean and i could see light through all the holes.

@robin1731 tank is definitely dented. rust is relatively light but i guess it should be cleaned or coated....maybe just replaced.

pics soon.

There is more to the idle circuit than just the jet.

You might try a paintless dent removal company to fix the dent. Even if it costs a little, it will be cheaper than painting the whole bike.

120 miles! That great. Should last a long time and be fun to ride once you get the systems all back in shape.

After working on a wing, you will be astonished at the primitive nature of them.

I found the jet I was after. It was stuck I had to drill it out and extract it with an Allen wrench.
