I've never seen them either. Kind of a H pattern, the pistons. Unconventional at least!

I knew about the Yamaha GL. There was a story recently in one of the Classic mags that a show or museum, can't remember which, asked Yamaha to borrow their prototype. Yamaha flatley denied having one, so there seems to be none left.
I must admit that the Kawasaki comes as a surprise! Never heard of that. Would have been very smooth, very powerful and very, very thirsty, depending on how it was tuned. nice looking bike too, whereas the Yam is..maybe not so much. Funny lines to the tank.

It would seem both bikes are based on same era GP bikes, the Yamaha engine looks exactly like the TZ750 Kenny Roberts rode.
