90 deg screwdriver wanted

#1

Post by salukispeed »

My son has a 93 CB750 nighthawk. While working on it last night it became obvious the idle mixture was set up very lean 2 5/8 turn out from factory. We spent over an hour taking the starter out to get clearance to remove the limiter caps for adjustment. When reassembled and set to 3 turns out it is incredible how much better it runs and idles. Now that it is assembled there is only 3/4 inch between the starter and the idle screw end and any fine tuning is near impossible on the #3 carb. I once saw a 90 deg screwdriver with a handle that allowed turning in such close quarters. Any suggestions??? Very tight.
Suggestions welcome.

Check with Motion Pro. I think that is where I got my good one.

Might also find one where they sell boats or marine supply items.

Like Robin said, Motiopro sells a couple different ones. The more expensive one will get into tighter places and is much easier to use.

I have the Motion Pro one, works OK. I usually use a hex type screwdriver bit without the handle. Just grip it between my fingers and go for it.

Funny, I just got back with that same Harbor freight tool. Thanks. I new it was too big but the small straight blade fits the screws great. There isn't enough room for even the bit by its self. I ordered two 3/4 inch MXL timing type pulleys and a 16 inch long x 1/8 wide matching belt that I will machine and then sandwich between .090 aluminum strips to make a belt driven 7 inch long driver that is only 1/2 inch thick including the bit end. This is stupid amount of work for a carb adjustment.

I should post a picture. It was never meant to be adjusted once assembled. there is only 1/2-7/16 inch between the screw and the starter and oil lines plus they are shrouded behind a bracket, Kind of a set and forget mentality that is not friendly. thanks for the suggestions. I did complete the flat driver using pulleys but even it is too wide to fit. only 1/2 inch thick.
