Oh man, that is sweet. Poor guy. I bet you are in a conundrum. If you build it, it's no longer a new, untouched, in the box Goldwing model. But to put it together would be a blast. I would relist it on ebay and get rid of it so that I wouldn't have to deal with the issue. Just let me know when you do.

Built it.

Paint it up like your bike.

Enshrine it in a place of honor in your garage.

(I'm of the opinion that these things are meant to be built. Like our bikes- they're meant to be ridden. But to each his own, of course.)
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

I agree as to me since it's not the 1000, it really has no draw to me.

If I had a 1100, would be a totally different story.

I built one by the same company of an 80 shovelhead. The one thing I learned is these babies take time. You need to glue up things and then let it sit for a day. if you try to glue up too much, things get out of hand, or if the glue is not set fully, parts either fall off or fall out of alignment. i set up a table clamped magnifying light, and had a couple of exacto knives at the ready. A couple pairs of roach clips helped as well!
I found the end of the internet

I have not done any in a long time but one of the tools I found invaluable was a little cheapo fly tying vice. It was like a extra set of hands.

I've done hundreds of models over the years.

Biggest thing is using the proper adhesive.

Polystyrene cement is the only way to go.

The fly tying vise is a great idea, as well as a large lighted magnifying glass.
