#1

Post by scootsx2 »

The July/August 2016 issue of Motorcycle Classics has a great article about Pistol Pete's restoration of GL1000 prototype GL1-1000002.

A scan of the article is available here: http://ameripost.com/Pete_Boody_GL1000_ ... ration.pdf

Very cool article. Pete does such great work. I need to find out how to get a copy of that magazine.

@ scootsx2,
Thank you very much to share this with us....... :bravo

Great job indeed.
I have much respect for all the research and work that has been done......my congratulations with this beautiful bike and the fact that Pete did bring history back and very close to touch.......
However, by restoring / polishing the aluminium parts like the front forks and other parts in a mirror-like way Pete went a little to far imho and missed the original target .......
The GL1000 originally was supplied to the market in a way that the forks and many other aluparts were in a kind of half matt / half shiny gloss.......not mirrorlike / chromelike.....
Nevertheless a very fine job.........TOP !!!

So, I JUST read this article online, and at the end it says something about him bringing the completed motorcycle to the Waseon OH show. Does anyone know what year that was?

(Reason being, if it was within the last two years, I was AT that show, and missed it. crying1 )
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

I don't know about Waseon, OH but it was his plan to have 002 at WingDing37 last year. I didn't attend so I can't confirm that. I hope 002 makes it to some other shows. I would like to see it.

I wonder what 002 would sell for...if it was for sale.
