You're welcome, how about some "before & after" photos of your seat?
BTW- if you want to fix something like spelling on one of your posts, click the little pencil in the upper-right corner of your post and you can edit it.

Re: GL1000 Seats...Solo Seats?
Kevin, I've been reaching out to Rick and did receive an initial response I asked him if he could help me slightly modify the original seat (which needs re-skinning anyway) to make it a bit more modern with taking some height off and doing a "saddle" or dish to the seat a bit more in the drivers front area. Seems he's not so keen on making adjustments to the original Honda style. I respect the purist, but I was thinking of a slightly more sleek look. I'll stay the course a bit longer and see if there's a compromise. Otherwise I may be looking for or needing another upholstery route. I've been toying with some smaller seats but the under-seat fuel tank has some interesting limitations on making it work with anything other than the stock pan. At least on this budget...

Re: GL1000 Seats...Solo Seats?
It is, but the mouth is small (front mount end is more narrow than the seat mount), and the natural curve is a challenge with the fuel sender and tank underneath. I want to make sure I don't crush that, so I'm considering making a beefy support cradle/mount front to back. The added sctructure would be a bolt on from front seat frame bolts to shock towers. I don't mind the height since I'm tall. It might also include a black shorty rear cargo rack just behind the seat and allow the crome fender to peak out all pretty... this would help me hide the rear lighting cables better, and cleanly blend the beefy cradle for the seat and to connect into the bike lines best. Pipe dream?

- Maybe the reverse of this? Black mount over the stock chrome fender? Or make it shine chrome everywhere?

I think that's a good idea. What bike did that smaller, black seat come off of?

Originally, it was on a sportster. Not sure what year. A local Craigslist find.

another vote for the black one. the brown one looks like a miniature cafe seat.
