Post by rtccp »

hey folks, i have been dying to play more with my mig welder so this is what i ended up with,, i got some great pics from a fellow winger and just basically ripped them off by copying them as best as i could , but since i already had the top from my homemade wooden table , i just scaled the lift to the top...beats hassling my buddy to come over and help me push my bike up the wooden table...lololol and actully the powder coating is exactly the same colour as my my bike ,,, who figured ...

The short part of the forward triangle gets trapped against a welded lip on the lower rail, when it's time to lower the lift you just pump the jack a little higher to disengage the forward triangle from the lip and then hold up the forward part of the triangle so it can not engage the lip as you lower the jack until the arm passes over the lip and the just slowly allow the jack to lower the table, I know it sounds confusing but it really is simple geometry ,,, the whole thing cost me $125 in steel tubing , $20 in bolts , and $100 for powder coating , I already had the wheel chock ,,,, np

Very nice. That's on my to do list.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Boy that turned out great. It looks like a $500 table from a supply store.
Probably built much better too.

I think you will find that you will need some kind of tray for the jack to set in to keep it from lifting the whole works off the floor. I built a similar table, and used a pair of angle irons welded between the crossmembers for the jack wheels to roll on.
