A complete stranger, she stopped and found out I was out of gas, then went into town and got some for me. She wouldn't accept any money from me either. She said she was a biker too.

Great story.

Help when you can, never know when you might need to make a withdrawal from your KARMA acct.

I always stop if I see a biker on the side of the road, it's a case of us (bikers) and them (drivers)! My first 'bike' was a Honda Graduate, a step through twist and go machine. Was my sisters first, then mine, and it never had a service but kept on going just with petrol. My headlight blew and a real biker stopped and tried to help. Never forgot that, and never will.

Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

Thanks Chewy. Sadly, today that's not the case. Countless bikes rode right on past, a few of them Golwing groups, without so much as a wave.

The lady who finally stopped, was a petite little thing. She was in her cage, but she was telling me about getting her early '80s Yamaha Special together.

Maybe the biker mentality has shifted, now anybody can go to the dealer and get a turn key, twist and go bike. Most of them know absolutely zero about the bike other than the color.

Us wrench heads are a dying breed.

I think a lot of people think everyone has a cell phone and can call for help if they need it. No so much back in the day. Also most people, even goldwing clubs, don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to helping stranded bikes on the side of the road.......and don't want to get involved. With roadside assistance insurance policies, cell phones, etc. They convince themselves that they don't need to be bothered stopping.
