That's a nice bike. If it's had regular maintenance, I think should be worth that kind
of money. If it were a cb750 or a cbx, or a kz900 it would command twice that and
to me they drives better than those bikes. Plus it's one of the best colors IMHO.

That looks brand new, be interesting to see it close up. Probably won't get the asking price, but thought it would be close, based on UK prices.
Just to compare,

It has been for sale for some time though! anim-cheers1

1980 CB250N Good to learn on

1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.

Probably not the right thread for these questions, but: did the side cover change shape in '78? It looks shorter (it doesn't cover the rear mc). I also recall another thread recently about sissy bars and backrests, and the consensus was to make your own because no one made one that fit the GLs. I like the one in the last picture of the CL post- a little tall, but I'd still like to get my hands on it if it bolts straight on.
'77 GL 1000 - sold, sad to see it go
'80 GL1100 that is garage decor.
'81 GL1100 that I finally put on a table to work on.
'94 BMW R1100RS Very fun bike.
'04 BMW K1200GT Haven't spent any time on it yet.
'07 FLHX - I'm in love with this bike. My daily driver.

If that bike is what it seems to be (per the pictures), it's worth every penny of the $3.5K the seller (probably) wants. As a group, I believe we do ourselves a disservice by constantly pushing down the price of these bikes. Why do we do this - so we can get them 'on the cheap' just for ourselves? If it costs us so much money to restore and maintain them, then why shouldn't they be worth more as a nice resto/mod or a finely maintained original? How many of us have been discouraged over the selling price of our GL'? I think we are shooting ourselves in our respective feet.

That is true if you are buying bikes with the idea of fixing and reselling them. But there are a number of folks, like myself, who build for myself and to keep. Thats not to say I won't sell one. I always say "Its not for sale....but it can be bought". So I look for "Good deals", because I'm poor, and if I want to ride, thats what I have to do. Old Gold wings fit that bill. If the price of them gets crazy, (by my standards), I will be looking for something else to do with my time

Been eyeballing this one for a week. I am sorely tempted. But that's a lot of scratch considering I already have three in the garage.

It's his second posting. Price has not changed.

A very nice looking bike!

If it really is what is looks like, and is advertised as, it is worth the asking price, IMHO. If I was a 'snowbird' who spent my winter months in the Phoenix area. I think I might go for it. But I am am a water guy, so I 'snowbird' in FL or the Caribbean. I leave my riding for up north in the summer.
