Martek electronic ignition

#1

Post by bill wing »

HI! I recently purchase an electronic ignition off E-Bay. The name stamped on it is Martek Products, Inc. out of Santa Ana, Calif. The big thing is it never came with a installation diagram! It is a weird looking unit. It’s for a Gold Wing. If anyone in the club has a diagram or knowledge of how it is installed I would appreciate the help. Thanks Bill

The junk yard I go to says to throw away a Martek and use points instead. (More reliable and don't just go fzzt.) That's all I've heard of them.
Mostly parts now.

I have a martek on my 78 Gold Wing. I have had it on the bike since it was about a month old back in '78. It seems to work fine all these years.

If you want the intructions, give me a fax number and I will fax it to you. I don't have a scanner and it is on orange paper. The only thing that has baffled me is that I had to remove the ballast resistor as part of the installation. I havent had any problems with that all this time. I don't know what's in the black box it came with but the mechanicals that replace the points are very solidly made.
