That Stupid Neutral Switch

Post by BigBrian27 »

Went to install the wiring harness in my 75 GL1000 today andddddd of course the frame now blocks the neutral safety switch...

Best way to sneak a screwdriver in there to reattach? Or will I be pulling the motor ... again?

I will give that a shot!

On a separate note, any diagrams showing the wiring harness routing?

I did the same last week. Luckily the screw wasn't tight and I managed to get by the frame at an extreme angle with a long screwdriver and got the screw out. Got the wire on and used a small pair of pliers to tighten. Wasn't too difficult in my case.

Edit.. I may have used a #1 phillips, it would just grab enough to turn the screw.

I used a wooden wedge to spread the frame and replaced the Philips head screws for the oil screen plate with hex bolts (or Allen head). Makes access to the stupid neutral switch easier.
