I have seen a number of them on various builds. They do not look comfortable to me but I have never sat on one.

I sat on Gords the other day, in the name of research, and I found it as hard as a rock compared to mine. To each his own I guess, and it does look great.

I have used three of them now, this months "bike of the month" has one. It is firm but not uncomfortable (I can't say what a long trip would be like) Quality is actually quite good.
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair
83 GL in process :IDTS:

On the seat subject, my 78 has a nice looking stock seat, but no grab strap.
Does anyone know where a person might locate a grab strap with the hardware to attach?
Thanks all,

Try 4 into 1 out of San Fran they are good to deal with and do sell a variety of seat straps and hardware both as a kit or the hardware as a separate item too.

http://4into1.com/
Current Bikes:

1966 CL77 - Honda 305cc - Dual purpose - "Gentleman's Scrambler" was a period moniker.
1967 CL175K0 - Low production number with #802 engine serial- winter 2019/2020 full restoration.
1972 CB350F - Baby Four with low mileage - Cosmetic refresh to the next level 2021/2022.
1978 CB550K - Very original bike with only 7499 Km. from new - light cleanup and refresh done.
1983 CB1100F - Canadian model - DOHC Supersport in pristine low kilometre condition from new.
1984 GL1200 - Standard model in showroom condition - two owner bike from new.
1984 CX650E - Restored summer 2017 - a rare Eurosport model - excellent one owner bike.

Sandy & Flyin900,
Thanks for the links, just what I was looking for!
4into1 has some nice looking exhaust systems for the GL1000, not cheap though (but what is?)
