I am. But everything should be, and is, a learning experience. We all get good at things by learning from our mistakes, or those of others. How do you think we learned how to remove a broken bolt? Or that it sometimes takes 3 or 4 or 5 times pulling carbs before we get them clean? Or how to really clean a fuel tank and the importance of an inline fuel filter?

All mistakes made and corrected and hopefully not repeated.,,. too many times now.

Just want to check something before I put the engine back in, pat myself on the back and go home for tea and medals.
I put a new crankshaft seal in, but only lubed it with a bit of engine oil. Is that what you guys do? I cleaned the crankshaft first, but there didn't seem to be any corrosion on so hopefully no more leak. Touch (a lot of) wood.

So, finally got ready to see if my efforts had been worth it. As usual with me nothing was straight forward. But after getting the engine in and keeping the belt covers off, I fired her up, well after a few attempts to get fuel in the carbs. Anyway, the bike started and all seemed well, until I saw a small trickle of oil from the crank shaft!!!! Not as bad as before, but enough to say flipperty heck!
Had a couple of ideas.
Checked the oil level and had over filled it a bit so drained enough to put the level between the lines on the sight glass.
Also waiting for two new springs for the belt tensioners, so the belts should have an equal force on the crank shaft.
Still got another seal so may try again as I can do the seal with the engine in the frame. Just wish something would go how it should first time!
