Catastrophic:

All for the lack of a new $40 set of timing belts.

Credit for the pic goes to John Schmidt, it's from his Restorations thread.

They were good, but I couldn't read Chinese to tell you who made them.

Yep, bought it that way but didn't know it until I tried to turn it over by hand. It was 250 miles away and a friend picked it up and brought it to me on a business trip to Orlando, he wouldn't know one way or the other. But, when I first talked to the recycler before paying for it, I was told "yes, runs fine, I turned it over by hand and it's not seized." After finding out why I couldn't turn it over by pulling the left head, I sent him a note and questioned him as to whether any consideration on replacement might be possible. I was totally ignored, so I'll just pass on the fact that the dog's place of business is in Ft. Myers, Fl. So be careful if dealing with a recycler in that area. If you want to know the name of the company, shoot me a personal message.

I have since replaced that piston with a good used one, now waiting on a box full of gaskets, o-rings, small parts, etc., in preparation to reassembly in the near future. I do need an exhaust system, the original one was toast...totally rusted out and not salvageable.
